Australian Kmart Starts Selling Same-Sex Doll Family Playset With Two Kids And A Cute Pet

Australian Kmart Starts Selling Same-Sex Doll Family Playsets

In Australia, Kmart has begun selling same-sex “Family Playset” that comes with either two moms or two dads, as well as two children and a pet.

Kmart has seen a quick sell-out of these sets in Melbourne and Sydney. The playsets are available through their online store, though their site states “we cannot guarantee which design you will receive as products are selected at random for online orders.”

This inclusivity strategy comes shortly after Mattel announced that would be selling a gender-neutral line of dolls called the Creatable World line. According to Time, Monica Dreger, Head of Consumer Insights at Mattel, said, “There were a couple of gender-creative kids who told us that they dreaded Christmas Day because they knew whatever they got under the Christmas tree, it wasn’t made for them. … This is the first doll that you can find under the tree and see is for them because it can be for anyone,” she added.

At the moment only white same-sex doll toy couples are being produced, so hopefully we’ll seeing an expansion of additional set of diversity play-sets in the near future.

England’s LGBTQ protestors Shut Down First UK-based Chick-fil-A within Opening Week

England’s LGBTQ protestors Shut Down First UK-based Chick-fil-A within Opening Week

LGBTQ protestors shut down the very first UK-based Chick-fil-A within its opening week. The location became the focus of a campaign highlighting the company’s history of anti-LGBTQ donations such as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes with $1.6 million dollars, a group that opposes same-sex marriage, and The Salvation Army, known for its anti-LGBTQ stand and actions. In 2012, Danielle Montarez, a Salvation Army employee was fired for being bisexual, after she expressed concern about the employee handbook relating to sexual orientation and employment discrimination. Watch Danielle’s interview for Truth Wins Out.

Protestors from Reading Pride UK, the local LGBTQ rights group, spearheaded a campaign called “Get the Chick Out,” denouncing Chick-fil-A’s CEO Dan Cathy’s statements against same-sex marriage.

According to an article by LGBTNATION in a statement released by Reading Pride UK, the organization wrote, “They hired a PR company, and he has not been quoted since,” “There is no record we can find to suggest his views have changed.”

Chick-fil-A opened its doors on October 10th, 2019, in the Oracle shopping center within the English town of Reading. However, the center publicly announced that it wouldn’t extend Chick-fil-A’s lease beyond its current six-month agreement. As a result, the restaurant will have to relocate elsewhere by April 2020.
