Alexey Kim is a New York City–based independent queer artist, writer, journalist, and photographer. He is the founder of the LGBTQIA+ focused news editorial vertical Sidewalkkilla.com. Alexey was born in Kazakhstan, formerly part of the USSR, eventually moving to the US in his early teens.
Alexey started his career as a photo contributor to Gayletter magazine in June 2018, covering events, parties, and fashion shows, and photographing still life and editorial shoots for the magazine’s blog as well as print issues of the magazine.
Alexey’s work has also been published in The New York Times, New York Magazine, V magazine, WWD, Paper, Out, The Cut, them., Glamour, Advocate, People, Buzzfeed and more.
In June 2019 Alexey decided to start his own venture and founded an LGBTQIA+ news editorial vertical called Sidewalkkilla.com, concentrating on nightlife, events, and personal stories from the LGBTQIA+ community.
Alexey has extensive experience in social media management, still, product, portrait, fashion, event, and nightlife photography. His past and present clients include Indochine NYC, Sotheby’s, Douglas Elliman, Geena Rocero, Major Food Group, Gayletter, The Beau Next Door, Flowerling, EdoEyen, Revery clothing, and Octomobility.
